Anglo-Chinese School Tuition group

Dear Parent/ Student,

I have an Anglo-Chinese School Sec 3 A/E Maths student who would like to attend group lesson instead of 1-1. As the school has its own unique syllabus, and for the best benefit of the student, I would like to look for students from the same school to team up with him.

If you are from Anglo-Chinese, are taking Sec 3 A/E Maths next year and are looking for a Maths tutor to resolve your struggle in Maths, please do not hesitate to contact me @ 9824 0258.

Cheers,
Clarice

Algebra (Sec 1and Sec 2 Maths) Practise Course (Holiday course)

Dear Parents/Students,

There will be an Algebra Practise Course coming up. The objective is to recap Sec 1 Maths Algebra and to teach Sec 2 Maths Algebra. Throughout the years, I notice that students who usually cannot fare well in Additional Maths in Sec 3/4, basically does not have good foundation in their algebra. As such, the purpose of introducing this algebra course is to guide students in better understanding of algebra and to provide them with more exposures and practises so as to build up their foundation.

This courses is suitable for students who are going into Secondary 2 next year, as well as students who are weak in algebra.

Course Details:
Timing: Every Saturdays (please call in to discuss on available slots)
Venue: Bendemeer Road (Between Potong Pasir and Boon Keng MRT station)
Fees: $150 (for every 4 lessons of 2h)

For more details, kindly contact Clarice @ 9824 0258.

Cheers!

Some gratitudes...

Suggested Answers for 2016 O'Level Additional Maths Paper 2

Finally, the O'Level Maths are over! Amaths Paper 2 is a rather simple paper, at least it is, when compared to Paper 1. I was very happy for my students when they messaged me to tell me that the paper was manageable and they had some time left for checking (this is important!)

Following the end of this paper, I bid farewell to this batch of students who have been with me for 6/7 years. During these years, there have been happiness and disappointments, praises and scoldings. Can't bear to part with them though, afterall, I have seen them grown since Primary school times and they are just like my children! Nevertheless, all good things come to an end. My best wishes for them in their futures and I'm sure we will still keep in touch, at least for some, since their siblings and/or cousins are still with me!

Topics that may be coming out in O'Level 2016 Additional Maths Paper 2

After looking through the O'level 2016 Additional Maths Paper 1 which students took today, I have only 1 comment: either you love the paper or you hate the paper. What a paper!

With more than 50% of marks allocated to topics on Trigonometry, Differentiation and Integration, you either do very well for this paper (if you enjoy doing these topics all along) or you do very badly for it (if you haven't straighten out the confusing concepts these topics carry).

Not to say, some topics actually came out twice! Example: Qn 3b and Qn 11b : if you can't understand the concepts of amplitude, period and axis of curve, and only know how to draw the graph, you probably will not be able to do both questions. Another killer question which came out twice is the reverse process of differentiation and integration: Qn 10 ask you to differentiate and then integrate back, and on the other hand, Qn 12 gives you the integral and hints you to differentiate to get back f(x). I can only say this is a rather "unfair" paper. If students are not familiar these topics, they will be "penalized" twice.

Nevertheless, if you have been feeling demotivated by Paper 1, don't lose hope! There is still Paper 2, hopefully it will be simpler. Practise harder, and you can still gain back some marks.

The topics that have not been tested are:

1. Binomial Theorem
2. Indices
3. Logarithms
4. Quadratic Inequality
5. Sum of roots/Product of roots
6. Linear Graph (plotting and non-plotting)
7. Circles (coordinate geometry)
8. Geomtrical Proofs
9. Polynomial (Cubic equation, factor theorem, remainder theorem, division algorithmn)
10. R-formula
11. Trigo equations, quadrants TOA CAH SOH, addition formula, double angle formula)
12. Kinematics (especially differentiation and integration of exponential functions)
13. Integration (Area under curve, especially differentiation and integration of exponential functions and definite integrals)
14. Rate of change (Usage of chain rule)
15. Increasing/Decreasing functions

Best of Luck!

O level Maths paper is starting tomorrow!

To all students taking the Maths exams starting tomorrow:

All the best to your papers! Remember to time yourself and check answers! 1m = 1.2 mins, and attempt questions which you can't solve initially only after you have finished the rest of the questions.

Good luck!

No June Holiday Programmes this Year!

Dear Parents and Students,

Very sorry that I have not been updating the blog for some time, but not to worry. I am still around tutoring students and helping them with their Mathematics problems.

Schedules have been pretty packed this year with some students on waiting list to join. As such, I deeply regret to announce that there will be No June Holiday Programmes this year.

I will be spending more time with my current students as there will be changes to Emaths syllabus this year and Amaths papers are getting more difficult each year. Futher, I will be giving ad-hoc lessons to students on waiting list so that they will not be feeling so helpless while waiting for a slot.

For those who are interested to join my classes, just fyi, my next availability will be after O'levels.

Thank you very much to all your support and trust!

Cheers,
Clarice
